What's this bike (Parkpre?)

A magnet will help rule out steel. Alloy welds will typically be beefier.

What you are looking for is a dull....grey.....well.....Ti colour :?

It may be simpler to pop the stem and forks off and look down the head-tube since they are usually clean inside.

If there is no rust on the frame, or oxidisation (especially in the BB shell were moisture gathers) for a bike of this age and general condition you can consider it Ti. If the frame weighs around the 1.5 Kg mark, that is another strong indicator.

Thanks for all the replies guys, will do some further checks tomorrow (already had a magnet on it) but I'm pretty sure now that it's Ti.

I've just bought a Ti bike for £25, somebody please pinch me, this is just too good to be true.

I need another chainset now though.................

Another clue that it is a Ti Parkpre frame is that there will be a shim built into the frame for the seatpost.

Thanks for your help so far, it is your website (I think) that I've been looking at a lot tonight.

I might get to have a look at the bike tomorrow but I don't think the wife is hugely impressed with my new purchase so I'll have to keep tinkering to a minimum for a few days.

I really can't face breaking a bike up a bike of this standard with mostly original parts (if not all) so it looks like I've got another project.

If that's not a Pro-Elite I'll eat my old helmet.

It's got the correct spec - down to the PFR branded stuff.

And apart from the colour - all the details I can see from the pics are just the same as on my own Pro Elite.

Bet it's been stolen at some point in the game though. So you might want to check that out.
