Whats happened to you since joining retro bike?

Simple answer - spend £££££££££££££££££££££££££ :D

It's all Gav's fault for introducing me to RB, knowing very well I'm a compulsive magpie

Too many bikes; both currently owned and built/sold.

Too much stuff; mechs, wheels, forks, frames.

But....I am fitter, I have a shed, I have fun and I have great friends 8)

Some info on and old bike for just piddling about on and going to the shops turned into an obsessive hunt for period parts
Then a new frame and another obsessive hunt

And Ideas............they're the worst side affect of coming here

Costly ideas

Then Lust, slowly followed by bankruptcy and sudden death in some ditch by a cycle path

I see it all,the future's clear :!:

I don't think anything has changed with me - I'm no retro purist, so I don't spend hours trying to find some rare and elusive part to finish yet another build, and the bikes I have now are the same ones that I had long before I'd even heard of Retrobike. In fact, the whole concept of building/ restoring a bike to its original specification is something that's a bit alien to me as all my bikes are "riders" and how they work is much more relevant to me than any idea of period authenticity.

Having said all that, I do enjoy my time hanging around here - though unfortunately I'm very unlikely to ever meet any of you guys "in the flesh"  (so to speak...)

When I joined I had a single bike, my old team marin from BITD.

Since I have owned:
Rocky Mountain Instinct
Kona explosif
Marin Palisades trail
KHS alite team
Specialized stumpjumper
Orange O2
Marin team Ti (briefly, I handed over the cash and collected it on behalf of a mate)
Saracen Tufftrax
Marin Team (91)
Orange Clockwork
Pace RC100
Pace RC200
Specialized Epic (2008)
Sunn Totall UN
Roberts Genesis
Unknown alu bike (purchased as it had some parts used in the RC200 build)

Pace Forks:
2 pairs of gold uppers Pace Proclass
pace Proclass eddie irvine / Ferrari ltd edition
RC36 Evo
RC36 stealths
RC38 Airforce
RC 35-magura mounts
RC35
2 pairs RC35 AB
RC30's

Also had many many blingy parts come and go.

Thankfully I haven't owned all of it at the same time, other wise there would of been a chance of finding me crushed under the weight of a fallen landslide of pace gear

have been on this site for just over 2 years. Have got 4 Trimbles. And one divorce. The £££ situation as always gone up & down just like the economy. If I hadn't bought the bike kit. Then I'd only spent the money on Hi-Fi, Or other kit. Met some great people too. Who have been a great help in getting to retro meets.
Or helping me out with non cycling kit. Thanks Heathy. :D

Well I discovered RB and went a bit mad;

Orange Clockwork
Pace RC200
Bontrager Privateer
Dyna Tech MT4 Ti
Marin Palisades
Kona Lava Dome
Dyna Tech 725Ti Road

Then I moved into a new house, and my father offered me his Jaguar XJ-S that he had since 1994 for a very reasonable price (I love that car) so that coupled with the 5 figure stamp duty meant that my fleet is now down to:

Dyna Tech 725Ti roadie and a
Kona Explosif Frame that turned up yesterday.

I think that given my nature I will have moments of madness where I accumulate lots of bike, then in a fit of 'common sense' sell the one that I don't use or feel most guilty about.

Sold my only Retro MTB cos it was dressed as a commuter and 'too small' replaced it with a modern Courier bike, which has been duly lite pimped, and single speeded for performance.

Built from F&F, a very new looking MuddyFox (still not 100% finished)

Bought back my old commuter, turned it into a MTB.
--and went on the first gruelling gloopy XC ride in years with some great retrobike people 8)

Relaced GF's bike with another older modern but a sweet one.

Bought a vintage kids BMX last week!

And I now have a cromo frame in the post to replace my Alu-alloy Identiti

loads of messages and loads of spare parts, probably a fullbikes worth! :o
