A question for the good and fair minded people of RB.
I recently sold a member of the group a fork brace for a modest sum, only to find out later having e-mailed a pic of said brace that it was the wrong one.No more was heard until I returned from my holidays yesterday to find a package with a note asking for his money back .NOW the one thing missing from this tale is that said person has taken a hacksaw to the brace to remove the cantihanger from it and has partially cut through the support ribbing .thoughts please ?

brace

I wouldn't repay him. If it was in condition I sent out - yes, but him butchering brace - no way.

So you have the money and the brace?

Al.

Having swapped stuff with you twice now I've found you a fair and honest chap to deal with. The way I see it you have four options:

You could dig your heels and and refund nothing, why should you be out of pocket for someone elses hamfistedness?.

You could negotiate a partial refund.

You could begrudgingly offer a full refund and then out them on here, they'd probably struggle to buy anyting else from the forum.

You could adopt the moral high ground, offer a full refund take the hit and maintain an overwhelming sense of self satisfaction that you were the more reasonable man.

The decision is yours!

i'd go with the 1st option.

if he'd returned it in the same condition you sent it out in then yes a refund would be fair.

however the fact he's taken a hacksaw too it thus destroying any value it had in the process he doesnt deserve the refund.

If they have damaged it then they should pay for the damage.

Though a before and after picture would help on the damaged.

(only brace I can see you may have sold is a Manitou 3 one recently ?)

If I'd bought the wrong item mistakenly(assuming I were in full knowledge of that items condition, type etc) I may ask the seller for a refund. If he declined then so be it, I knew what I was buying after all. I'd then do what I wished with it, wait for a build it may suit in the future or sell it on perhaps.

I wouldn't hack it to pieces THEN send it back  some people :!:

.

Isn't there something about cake and eating it :? . Why would you damage something you want a refund for? I wouldn't take a tv back to Currys having put a hammer through it, well I might but only for a laugh 8)
