YES the original poster should have contacted you first instead of trashing you out in public, but equally, following this thread being posted, I would have contacted him in private (just as he should have done in the first place) and explained the tone in which your comments to him were made (ie, tongue-in-cheek joke), then it would have been big hugs all round and everyone would still be happy

As it is, he now looks like he has over-reacted, you have been trashed, and the whole thing is completely unnecessary

I can understand why you feel agreived but at the same time I'm sure you've sold stuff yourself and it's easy to get a bit twitchy about things - especially if you've got potential buyers lined up who may find something else in the meantime; as I said, I can see this from both sides and the arbitrary 17:00 deadline from his side was silly, but seeing as he didn't actually sell it to someone else while he was waiting your comments should have been meant as a joke. You said yourself you were being sarcastic - so same thing, give or take. And I would also say that this thread should never have been started - all very silly.

Anyway - no idea why I'm getting involved with this. Life's too short.

Good point - although if you're not entirely sure then you can always use PayPal goods rather than gift and then you get full paypal protection (I believe) so you can get a refund, etc.
