Shimano XT SL-M760 3x9 Shifters

Hi. I'm looking at buying a pair of non STI XT M760 shifters on eBay and was just wanting to know if these do the double gear changes, or is that only with the STI versions with the brake levers integrated? Complete 38 year old noob here, who's been away from mountain biking since my teenager days and starting to get that nostalgia and wanting to get back into it all, so sorry if it seems like a stupid question. From what I can gather from Google it sounds like they do, but just wanted to check with knowledgeable people here first before I buy them as the Google information was a bit sketchy

I think the front lever will do a double shift/click, but the rear is single only. Could be wrong.

I believe I have a set of these on my 2001 GT Zaskar Race and I'm pretty sure I can shift multiple gears quite easily, especially in the higher gears as I always have to remind myself not to do so. I know this applies to the right shifter(rear). I haven't tried it with the front shifter though. Hope that helps.

Had a few pairs of these over the years but always ended up swapping them out for the same era Deore ones...found the XT to feel less precise or 'wooly' compared with the Deore's more positive/accurate feeling click. Anyone else, or just me?

I agree, but I'll still keep using them. I find it especially noticeable in the highest two gears, it's too easy to shift more than one at the time. Anything beyond the highest two gears seem better indexed for some reason
