Hi there

I need to get my brakes bled up and am wondering what oil you lot use for your brakes.

I know you can get the Magura Blood but i'm just after other options.

My brakes are Shimano / Magura Hybrids but both manufacturers use mineral oil as far as i'm aware

Thanks for any input

I use 'Green' LHM hydraulic fluid as used in older Citroens and Rollers. Get a litre from your local motorshop for a few quid.

I have used Shimano oil without incident,

Motorbike shops also sell mineral oil to suit Magura Hydro clutches used on KTMs and Huskies - if you want a cheap option

think some people are even using water these days?

i only use the proper magura blood. it's thinner than hydraulic oil so brakes are easier to apply and spring back easier.

I fil mine with beer. lol!

Seriously though, shoudlnt you be using the right 'wt' rating of brake fluid rather than water and WD40? Why not fill em with strawberry milkshake lol!
