Just pumped up the tyres. They seem to be holding air. New seatpost bolt and it'll be good to go...of course I'm already planning a paint job and full rebuild...
So the story is I bought this years ago from a car boot. It was cheap but had been fairly messed about with. Paint job was DIY. Wheels were mismatched and the back had a broken spoke. Had cantis on the front, and XT v-brakes on the back. I think the rear mech was an XT too, not sure what happened to that...
I rode it a briefly and despite the poor condition it was very sprightly. I didn't feel it was a great fit but as I remember the main issue was the long reach to the bars (different stem to the one pictured). Had a few ideas re what to do with it but then my dad saw it and liked it, a swap was agreed, he rebuilt it replacing some of the bits - fitted the steel chainrings pictured as the original ones were knackered, replaced the stem, put cheap Tektro brakes on it etc... then his mrs rode it a few times and it was left to rust in the back yard.
Not sure whether this is for me or my mrs though. Quite a small frame (16.5") I'm roughly 6 ft but longer in leg than in torso. I do fancy a new mountain bike as my Rockhopper got built up as an ugly bastard commuter/tourer... Could I make it fit or would I be better off looking for something else?
