The 205 will remian in the family, she will be lovingly restored in due course, after her first car the '74 mini, my '78 MG, my Pug 205 Mi16, my current car the ZX 16v, an escort a Fiesta etc

meh, mrk1 Golf may be the original but the Pug 205 GTi is the best and she has one!

Yeah she's after something newer, she does 12k miles a year, and i want her to have something a bit safer too.

I'd love a MK1 Golf, not bothered about a GTI just a nice clean 3 door but they go for decent money with the "scene tax :roll:

Bought a wee 1.0 94 Polo as a runner just before christmas, stuck a 1.3 GT motor in it last month, still to get it running, only 75bhp but they are apparently fun little cars , G40's are awesome but can be money pits if you end up with a dog.

How about a nice Lancia Beta Monte Carlo S2? Get a decent one for 5k. Or find a solid MOT'ed but scruffy Alfa Guilia Coupe needing improving for 4-5k. Great cars both and easy to look after- very reliable too.

That mk1 is awsome!! Wouldn't mind seeing the mi16 myself. I'm really more into german cars but at one point had a 205 1.9 gti to hoon around in, and my mate had a mint mi16 conversion. What a motor it was, nearly killed him in the end.....literaly(bad smash, he was in a bad way). He's now partial to running around in old tank like mercs
