what bcd is a compact drive chainring?

Sheldon Brown, may he rest in piece, says it all really.

But just to confirm your initial query, over here in Holland the 110 BCD double cranksets are commonly referred to as "compact" by the roadies. They typically run with 50-34 front rings or thereabouts.

In retro MTB speak compact drive or CD is the 94-58 triple set up that comes with many gearings, 26-36-48 or 20-32-42 and I've also seen 48t CD for sale here.

Enjoy!

Bizarre isn't it, that roadie compact is the same as ATB standard (110 BCD), nice thing is that you can use all your old, quality chainrings on your roadie bike and finally get some anodising on that 700c machine.
