I've just been looking at Cannondale Kings lovely Clockwork project and very nice it is too. His 91 clockwork frame bares an uncanny resemblence to my 93(?) Prestige. What are the differences as mine looks the same? Could someone have made a mistake id'ing mine? How can you tell them apart?

tubes

I've established that the prestige is a hop up from a clockwork, being made of higher spec tubes, but short of having two bare frames to weigh are there any other ways to tell them apart?

Post up some pics and it will give us a better idea of what you have.

The 93 presitige is made out of either tange prestige or tange ultima (I'm not 100% which as this seemed to be a transition period with the introduction of the P7 in 94). The clockwork is made out of either tange infinity or Orange series 7 tubing from around 94 onwards. The detailing on the presige is usually of a higher quality(for example the cable guide on the wishbone). Apparently the prestige doesn't have a chainstay bridge.

Orange frames vary so much that without seeing yours its hard to tell.

Prestige is the frame model above the Clockwork (well bitd it was, no idea about the modern one's)

Trudging the deepest parts of my brain aching with this man flu that is spreading around the country..
from what I remember and from what came up in a few threads.

Prestiges are likely to have no cross bridge in the chainstays.
The prestige rear canti cable stop is nicer (iirc a one piece in-line affair as opposed to a sideways straddling type one :? )
Prestige will have a higher pitched and thinner sounding ping the the main tubes, clockworks will be a dull sounding ping. (hard to compare if you don't know steel tube bikes that well ;))

Minor problem is the frames constantly evolved ....

omg, i have no chainstay bridge...and my frame has a high pitch sound in the tubes...i thought it was a clockwork, could it be a prestige?!

Well the pictures show it a V-brake specific frame, so I have no idea. Far too late an orange for me.

ddidds, could be :| but I have no idea what they did to them after they turned in to the P's and C's

Prestige or Clockwork?

What makes my frame 'v' brake specific? Is it the lack of a rear cable stop? The frame must be fairly early as its 1" steerer. If I can decifer the frame number and send it to orange will they be able to give me a answer?
