Weigh 531C with canti stops £85 north wales

yup its the same one, looks like it moved a short distance from North Wales to Chester, un molested though - original ad says sold. I would say its a bargain - the wheels are worth that alone and the Shimano 600 mech and shifters , plus matching brake levers will raise the same again.

If you are going to go down the restomod route (recommended) you will need to change wheels to go 11 speed - as the freehub isnt that wide on vintage rear hub - 8 or 9 speed is achievable and probably more cost effective plus will fit on existing freehub and OLD rear axle spacing - I did a similar thing with almost identical frame - build thread here: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/graham-weigh-cx-build.470562/ Note that clearance ( especially rear chainstays) is aok for 28mm or 32mm but NOT 35 or larger width tyres.

Yep I have some of these same wheels which I’d probably say are my absolute favourites for road riding. They would happily be kept as spares!
The Manchester velodrome bike jumble is this weekend so will likely decide by then/see if there is anything wheel-wise or a cheap ish frame. Wouldn’t need the DT shifters/aero levers etc so they’d get passed on to raise the funds for remaining necessary parts not in my shed.

A friend exchanged me some 11 speed 105 shifters which, apart from the rear wheel, would probably be the most costly component to acquire. My only modern road bike I think will be on its way out as of today due to being slightly too large. Probs not too much difference in weight between aluminium and 531c really. The rack mounts would be nice for light touring and it’s not like I go very fast anyway! 😁

32mm would have been the ideal choice so should be grand on that front.

Also, how was your workshop event this weekend jsut gone? I meant to pop by but unfortunately life got in the way.

I will be bringing some 531 retro frames / bikes to the cycle jumble on Sunday (seller 24 by BMX centre) , some finished, some 'projects'. The A4Studios summer open day was ok thanks but ill-timed roadworks all weekend by council meant hardly anyone could get there by car without local knowledge - grrr.
I am planning another cycle jumble at A4studios in Altrincham - end of Sep - we need a half dozen folks to sell to make it worthwhile and can fit 6- 10 displays in the galleries inside - I am thinking of doing it late afternoon and into the evening - so folks can come after work and also enjoy a bar and something to eat as well as looking at bike parts !!! more on that anon.

PS - I have this project in the workshop at the moment
'Bob Jackson' tourer morphing into 'gravel slag'. - hopefully finished by Sunday. It will have 2x7 vintage drivetrain (suntour and 105 mechs with sora brifters replacing the old suntour downtube shifters) for now but could easily go 1x with more modern rear mech and a wide range freewheel - say 11-40. It is similar age and style to Graham Weigh but with a tad more tyre clearance. Both are very light - probably 531 C not ST.

That looks lovely. Had my eye out for a Bob Jackson but think they’re just out of my budget full stop at this point in life!

Graham Weigh seller responded and said he wanted the frame for a gravel bike but could only fit up to 42 on the rear and 30 on the front hence the sale.

That figures, am amazed he got 42 in the rear chainstays tbh. 30mm CX tyres are aok IMHO but I do realise current trend is towards ever wider rubber.
It's still a great buy, if I didn't have one already I would have grabbed it myself. Maybe I should sell the purple one on Sunday.
