VW Campers

I'd looked at a Bongo, and thought them expensive. After reading this thread they sound amazingly cheap, and have the added advantage of late 20th century technology...
...like not being a sit-in molotov cocktail
...having and extra 6V of electricity in them
...2.5L Diesel
...Japanese reliability
...and brakes apparently

I realise that VW campers are a love or hate thing, but I just don't get it.

Bongos drink fuel and are tiny inside. Got to love the electric roof and window blinds, though :) Bongo vs split/bay/T25 isn't really a sensible comparison, anyway, they're T4-era wagons.

I want an early Delica Chamonix edition

My dad has a Romahome, and it's ACE. Although the VW will be faster than the Roma, with its throbbing 1200cc engine.

No really that's just too much wonga - although they seem to have gone up a fair bit in the last few years. Even rustbuckets are commanding £1500 - £2500

TK - looks like a T25 might be the best bet, but even they're escalating - its a VW thing.

There's a 4WD type 2 variant kicking around but as rare as..............I'd really like one of them

I looked at a couple when I was camping at the weekend, saw a lovely t25 syncro done up like a bee - Tigerente it was called, very cool.

Saw a t4/5 too they seem ok but the t25 is nicer to look at.
