I've been after one of these for my derailleur collection for over 20 years. They're beautifully made and ultra rare; this is only the second set I've ever seen. Shame about the price!

Anyone encountered the FiR groupset before or have any info'/insight?

Nothing wrong with the price as someone snapped them up :)
That'd be me.
The seller wouldn't accept an offer unfortunately, but I thought what the hell, I'll probably never get another chance

Will have to sell a couple of Super Record rears to finance them, which doesn't seem so bad a deal...

look like they were made by Campagnolo
Apparently they were made by FiR themselves. http://www.disraeligears.co.uk/Site/FIR ... leurs.html
I think some of their other parts including the MTB bits had some association with Sachs (and possibly Edco?)

There's no information anywhere on these mech's. They seem to be so rare that even the Disraeli Gears chap doesn't reference them specifically or have one in his 1,400 strong collection.
No mention in 'The Dancing Chain' derailleur-bible either.

Can't say I've heard about their mechs either, I thought they only made rims etc. Every day is a school day :)

Good find though :)

Re:

There was a short feature on them in Cycling Plus I think, probably around '92 - and a photo. The groupset looked gorgeous, even more jewel-like than C-Record (but less ostentatious?)
That was the only reference I've ever seen.

The mech' at least has been a bit of a holy grail ever since. :)
