V-brake fitting - any tips?

Based on the pic above, I can't see why a standard noodle with a small length of cable outer wouldn't just simply work. This is how v brakes are run generally, the only difference here is that the cable stop is on the dog collar and not welded to the frame.
So your question basically is am I a complete idiot, and am I just spouting total nonsense? Well, how would I know the answer to such a complex question?

On the other hand, a cable stop is 8-9cm further forward than the canti guide and that might make a big difference?

Hi Anthony, so have you just drilled the dog collar a bit wider at the back end to accomodate the outer by the looks of it?
No, no need to drill it, the brake arm tensioner pushing back keeps the cable in place.

For Kona's with the dog collar type rear brake cable guide. Thought about just zip-tying all the way along but it's not pretty.
I used to have V's on my old one but I can't think for the life of me think how I did it!! :?
Any ideas much appreciated. :)

why not just run your outer cable in one piece all the way from lever to the v-brake noodle thingy, you could drill your kona cable hanger and pass an outer cable right through

I've got one of the problem solver things somewhere too, as was thinking of trying v brakes out on a Klein. Never did though so if you want it, let me know and I can measure up as it will need to be the right size for your frame tubes.

I have a 18" kona on v's and standard cable ant outer works fine. Try it an see as it will only cost you a few quid, nokon outer is alot more money but is a fine solution.

Is it possibly to rotate it 90 degrees and use a barrel adjuster (M5 M6 ?) in place of the bolt to create a cable stop and a nice place for a bit of outer casing to go in.

Maybe no use for the smaller bikes.

Other options I've come across (not actually for this)
are
Flexible Noodle (Jagwire for instance make one as does this Mr control thing

Also this Origin 8 super noodle, but could probably do with a better angle
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/origin8-supe ... prod26427/
who also make a less chunky ProblemSolver (which I do have something similar to the problem solver chunky design and it actually has for Kona one it somewhere)

There are also similar 'wheel' models.
