Uphill Vs Tall man

Retro Newbie
When I climb with high slope the front wheel takes off or is slightly in contact with the ground, that generates poor front wheel directionality and the handling drammatically drops down.
That has been my problem for ages. May be I'm too tall (1.95m) for 26" MTB. I have a fantastic KoKopelli HT with a strong traction but maybe the seatpost is too long, moreover I have a long stem (syncros 150mm 0degrees) in order to bring the weight ahead as much as possible even if it generates me back pain in uphill.
Suggestions? Have you tried different solution? Do you know bike frames better than mine in order to solve that problem?
Thanks guys. /D

Riding technique should solve problem not bike set up !

Move your weight forward so that your bum sits in the air in front of the saddle and your weight presses down on the forks. Do not move your weight too far forward or you loose rear wheel traction, keep practicing untill you get it right.

Some older frames are rear wheel biased as original Californian mtb's geometry were intended for down hilling not XC but above technique can cope with this. No pain no gain !

Cheers

Yep, its all about weight distribution depending on the gradiant. Get some bar ends as well (if you haven't already).

I get round it by having some forks with a travel adjustment knob. This drops them by 2 inches and thus lowers the front end, making it better for climbing. It is harder when you are taller as often the seat post is so high (and therefore back) that you are naturally sitting virtually over the back wheel rather than the middle of the bike. In this respect a larger frame and maybe 29" could be the solution too.
