Univega Alpina 5.5

Devout Dirtbag
Hi all,
Not even sure this is classed as a mtb or if it's a hybrid? (if it matters)

Anyway, just rescued it from the oblivion of the scrap metal collector.

Just wondering what original components would have been on this ? (and is it approx 1994/5?)
Any info appreciated.

I'm not a mtb guy really so might make it more of a 'go anywhere' tourer. Anyone done a similar thing?

Re:

Nice find! these are actually really nice frames, I can't believe it was about to be scrapped!!

Definately a MTB, but it does look quite at home with those slick tyres on it.

Re:

Great find. These are very under-rated bikes (except by those who have them). As a general purpose and light tourer it's well worth doing up.

Re:

I'm guessing it'll be around '94/'95 as you suggested, what components are on it at the moment?

I use my 1996 506 as a road/tourer and love it.

Yours seems to be similar spec from 1994.

I'll get in the shed and and list the components later tonight.

I suppose it was too good (and too free) to be true- it's got a stuck seat post! I will get to work on that later this week.

Goldtop - yes, that's looking good! Very tasty indeed.

It's a pretty lightweight bike. I was surprised by that.
