...........what was so special to me in 1989.......

...a tbg kona explosif, for me, holds a special place, ( i know it may not for sum), perhaps its not got the back to the future look of the stunning pace, but for me in the late eighties, when all my local shops had were straight top tubed, and curved forks....the likes of cannondale(with the odd model exception), and stumpjumpers etc,........to stand at the window when the shop owner set about doing his new display, i was bowled over to see.........1, sloping top tube, 2. straight blade forks, 3. that splatter paint, as well as little touches like the rear macaroni pipe cable guide etc,...........a well designed bike on shop floors, for the masses, that clearly has had a big influence on a lot of cycle design.......in my book i think paul brodie/murray....and the tbg did a really good job......and with a relatively well priced product....too.

The Cunningham had straight blade forks and sloping top tube 10 years before Kona.

it did, sorry i didnt think it was going to be a who done it first thread, i was just 16 and racing in 1989, i used to get mbuk, mba etc, and i would love to have owned a cunningham, or even an overburys ..(nice one lgf), but several things stopped me. 1, there was no importer for cunningham-very boutique, handmade, and rare then let alone rare now...2. the price.

they were certainly rare enough for most boys at that age sadly never to have heard of them at all, i must confess i only know what i do, thanks to me religiously buying the american mba mag......at that time.

sorry ......i clearly misunderstood the topic.......of this thread.
