in that case my love i think you have lost your fiver.

dont become a professional gambler!!!
I actually was a professional gambler for six years. It's not something I miss.

Never let it be said that I'm a sore loser though. If sinnerman, turbo, and miss money penny would like to e-mail me their real names and addresses, I'll have a cheque for five pounds on the way to each just as soon as I'm back in the UK in about a fortnight.

ok

ok firstly i dont want your money, but i will certainly private msg you my name and address to prove who i am, but obviously i cant speak the other defendants....lol

Sinnerman, poor effort there. All three were posting from the same IP so please end the bluff. Although now you're banned you have little choice. If by some miracle you can prove (or all three of you can prove) you are different people then please drop me an email. Otherwise since I'm feeling lenient tonight I will impose a 2 week temporary ban on Sinnerman on the condition I get a very aplogetic email in 2 weeks time prior to the ban ending. Please don't email me before.

As to the actions of one individual on an open forum being indicitive of the forum 'turning to crap' I would of course tend to disagree.

Right I am girding my loins here as I think this one may bring wrath upon me

But this Thread is so subjective as to be pointless. There are so many great 80's bikes, the seeds of so many great ideas, and the genisis of the species that is Mountain bikes or All terrain bikes chose your poison!!

As you have all found the answer is different for everyone. Though some may find common ground for agreement on certain bikes, it holds with the maxim 'each to their own. I have my own opinon too and it would go to the Kona explosif, but at the end of the day it is just an opinon. Given an unlimited budget, I would probably get all of the bikes on the list (call me the Jay Leno of the bike world lol).

So just because someone may suggest a bike that is not top of the range, or superduper fantastic lightweight floats on air and rides like gods own creation. I don't think they should be called crap at all.

My honest opinion and my shoulders are broad enough to take it.

Mark :D

Ah the power of Kona. This shouldn't be so hard: nominate a bike that represents the ultimate MTB that was produced in a decade, and say why.

The ultimate - so good that it's fit to show off around the galaxy.

To fall back on the good old car analogy, I might drive a mondeo and find it to be a lovely vehicle: practical, speedy, well designed, great value - in many ways a modern classic. But would I really say it represents the ultimate car produced on this planet?

Aim high!

I guess I would nominate a Klein.

If you want to represent ultimate craftsmanship, 100% purposeful and 200% cool to the bones, there is only one maker out there as far as I am concerned.

:)

I was lead to believe that the Overbury's Pioneer was available with its sloping top tube as early as 1985, so my nomination is definitely a worthy contender to keep the British end up...

So, we're showing these aliens our top technology and innovations and pull out a Kona/Overburys/Cunningham....

'As you can see this bike has a sloping top tube'
'Whats thats for?'
'Well, so you don't smack yer bawz of course  '
