Ultimate 80's- Nominations please.

Ultimate 80's

To be honest i think you have all missed a trick here.
Whilst it is great to look back in lust at what we may have wanted at the time but could not afford we had to settle with looking at through a bike shop window, for me the ultimate 80's bike is, and will always be............

It took some reflection, but I think I see why you've proposed the Raleigh Maverick as the ultimate mountain bike that Planet Earth could produce.

If we went with a Pace or a Cunningham those fiendish Aliens would surely earmark our planet as a technological marvel and throw us into slavery, forcing us produce alloy widgets for their nefarious ends.

But unveil the Maverick, and they'll pat us on our collective heads, mark us down as primitive troglodites and move on to trouble another species.

Smart.

.........wow hang on.........

.........maverick im sure someone did sumthing that looked like a raleigh maverick.....10 years before so that dont count.......lol

........close encounters.....

..........close encounters of the third kind...........e.t and yoda both want to go hme now........lol 8)

Schwinn Cimarron for me, Schwinn (the Raleigh of the USA's) top end bike once they'd finally cottoned on to the idea that mtb's were a serious thing that was here to stay

I know there are many, many better 80's bikes out there but for reasons I've never quite figured, I like Schwinns......

.........checking my coat out of the cloak room and hailing a cab

After reading the OP again I reckon I'll have to go with MrK's Yeti Ultimate suggestion. Does anyone have a link to the MBA article?

Going by the OP, Offroad Proflex was the most futuristic. But I might be a little early for bikes actually on sale, they released in 1990 but that might be model year which means they were around at the very end of 1989.
