UK Clothes sizing rant...........

I consider myself to be reasonabley regular sized...however according to the high street this does not seem to be the case :evil: :evil: :evil:

Why does every shop seem to have their own take on mens clothing size.

I look through my t shirts and I have M to XL
Shirts similar range of generic sizes and neck circumferences
Don't get me started on jeans.. :twisted: :twisted:

Why is there such little consistency - was it always like this or have I just become intolerant of such nonsense.

It seems to be the manufacturers deciding on their own.

Probably an aspect of ego-boosting, as my wife found out - thrilled to get into a skirt one size down from her normal and afterwards discovering that she hadn't lost weight, just bought something labelled smaller but with the same waist measurment!

Italian stuff is far too small, as all the blokes seem to be about the size of Frankie Dettori. I very rarely buy any item of clothing or footwear (except under-stuff) without trying it on.

Italian XXL is probably about the same size as Texan or Hawaiian medium.

Couldnt agree more!

I could go on and on and on.....but suffice to say that being a male I dont do the whole trying on before buying.....and manys the time stuff either gets binned or taken back :roll:

On the basis of my wardrobe I have a waist that ranges from 32" > 36" and legs that are somewhere from 31" > 33" :x

Jeez, the hassle to get trousers these days.

I too have jeans ranging from 32 to 36. Only problem is I can't get into the smaller ones. Pleased I can now blame the manufacturers, not my slim athletic build.

The thing I dont understand is when buying jeans of the same make.

A month or so back I brought 2 pairs of Florence & Fred jeans. Both 32" waist and 33" leg. One pair fitted, the other too tight and too short.

Work that one out! :?

i agree, sizing is relative (to whatever the little kid the other side of the world wants it t0 be)
i now stray away from the cheaper stores (especially primark) because the clothes just shrink in the wash anyway. ok so its cheaper but not if your buying it more often :roll:

Try being a fatty. Buy an xl t shirt because its the biggest they do and it's no where near! Just bought a new jacket for work today, xxxl. I know i'd a fatty but give me strength
