I once tried putting drop bars on an MTB and it was utterly horrible. The slack 70ish degree head angle coupled with wide grippy tyres made the steering awful. The decision was made to scrap the drops when I crashed on the way home from the pub one night. Admittedly I was semi cooked, so make your own minds up whether it was the bike or the rider
 
Ha ha, I've had many rides back from the pubs. Can't say they've all ended well.
I put drop bars and road gearing on a mtb and it was awful. Cost alot of money for the conversion and then cost quite a bit to set it all back.
Was an expensive experiment (or mistake). At least when i sourced all the parts again for the mtb, i upgraded.
I think ill leave the drop bars for other people.
