Today's Ride

Some minor tributes to a couple of the town's famous sons passed on today's ride. Some road names on a newish housing development and a laser cut steel portrait in a distant corner of the park. How it's escaped the attention of angle grinding scrap collectors I don't know. The amp is a Vox which also originated in the town.

There are a couple of others I'll visit on another day's ride.
As mentioned yesterday and visited today

Not the finest sculptures in the world, but it's the thought that counts I suppose.

Bit of rain over the last few days, so timed a ride to my sunny lunch break today. Quick route around the park. Temps are dropping as we move towards Autumn, but it was nice in the sunshine about 17C, quite windy (the weather, not me)

I was stopped under an oak tree and a lot of fallen acorns were what these two lads were after, they wanted me to 'Foxtrot Oscar' so they could have their lunch... so I did

This one is a lot of fun to ride

I was too curious and went back this morning for the puffballs mentioned a few posts back. it was surprisingly hot and I hate backpack, so this wasn't really a pleasant ride, but any ride is better than no ride at all, isn't it?

anyhow, the puffballs! I found six of them, took three. one middle and one big sized.

later at home turned out, that one of them was beyond the point where I dare to experience with.

the small one cut in half, looked good:

I choose the most simple recipe can be found:

it seemed promising on the plate...

...but I have to admit that it was disappointing. the puffball meat had almost no taste, tasted like marhsmallow without sugar or anything flavour.

all in all, I won't be a fan of this, but at least I made an appearance in the kitchen surprising my wife. ...and she also took the chance to point out that if I am so keen on cooking, I will be the one who makes pancakes for the kids this evening. cross your fingers! 🤞:D

Been a bit wary if not slightly anxious about getting out, easy to make excuses in that frame of mind ie oh I can’t go out at x time because rush hour or blaming wind or whatever although I’d say the clothing excuse is a valid one considering I spent a good chunk on bib shorts/short sleeve jerseys, then lost a good month plus of riding time and now it’s chilly but that was easily remedied by some cheap arm warmers and a balaclava; nice and toasty for a quick evening 20 miler. Bought a cheap frame bag instead of using a saddle bag since I’d rather have multiple lights on. Not bad for £16, double sided with one side being able to fit 2x tubes levers and co2, pump, multitool, chaintool and some quick links whilst the other sides free for phone, wallet, food anything. Only gripe is I’d forgotten about external cabling so tomorrow I’ll be boring out the stop to do a full outer run.

Grateful for good health and two wheels 🙏
