Today I caught a MASSIVE hornet !! with pics !!!

Today I caught a MASSIVE hornet !! with pics !!!

as the pic shows this hornet at an angle... its hard to see exactly how big it is.... but honestly its easily 40mm long perhaps 45mm stretched out..
i have never seen a yellow and black flying thing this big before !! :shock:

Ive got one on my window sill like that i caught in my shed. i saw another one shortly after.

i have been repairing a wall over the last few days.... i have been up a ladder and it has been flying around me going in and out of holes in the stone wall... so.... when i saw which hole it went in, i put a bottle in to the hole between the stones and waited for a few mins... then it crawled out in to the bottle... and i could continue working safetly for the rest of the day... I was going to kill it... but when i saw the size of it , i thought it could perhaps be a queen hornet.... so i let it go at the end of the day.
hopefully it wont sting me next week when i go back to work !!

We've had about a dozen wasps trying to find a way in, but they're all queens at the moment.

Unfortunately we've taken the decision to kill them as we don't want wasp nests in the bleedin' house.. :shock:

yer fair enough.... if they were in my house, id kill them aswell .
but this one was just flying around a walled garden so i let it go

i woke up to the buzz of one once, where i was living. guess it mustve come in through the front door and up the stairs into my room

thats some buzz, real loud one
so i grabbed my clothes sharpish, while it was near the window and zoomed over, opened window and got out of there. shut the door. left for about 5 hours :shock:

It's a well known fact that Bisto is great at repelling Hornets.

kill it......they kill bees which are a tad mor important to our eco system.....horrid thing them hornets.....they still have one in my old school in a bottle with my name on it....I caught it for our nature table
