To polish or not - Raleigh head badge?

I've posted this Q in my build thread in Readers Bikes but that seems to garner a different group of RBers so asking here too.
The very last step in my current built will be nailing on the Raleigh badge to the head tube. (Though I dare say an engineer would describe it as 'rivet'.) The badge in question has acquired what I regard as a rather pleasing patina. But with the rest of the bike having somehow graduated from a quick rebuild to a bit shinier I can't make up my mind on whether I should now get out the Brasso for the badge.
Thoughts and opinions welcome. And any pics of a shiny one or info about how they looked when new.

This pic of the badge makes is look considerably darker than it is in person-

My 2 pence worth... don't polish it! Your bike is way shiny as it is and that patina on your badge is undoubtedly pleasing. I'm all for shiny bits, but there's something about the slightly faded Raleigh emblem that makes me at least feel slightly fuzzy inside... Looks like you've done a cool job on the restoration! Nice work. 8)

I would not polish it, however I would be tempted to drop it into some brown sauce for 5 minutes to remove the muck but will retain a certain amount of old patina without looking too bling

Re:

Great work on the rebuild which looks a nice result. If you don't clean and polish the badge its going to look like you missed a bit :)

Polish ... otherwise it will look like you could not be bothered to finish the job ...

Either preserve everything or polish everything ... half/half is just a mess.

Thanks, everyone. That is helpful. You've all helped me realise a few things. One is that a high polish will stand out against the black head tube. And another is that it is probably a bit too dark and dull at the moment. The third is that I can take it gradually and stop any time.
So I'm going to see if I can get it a bit shinier without taking away too much colour and patina - I really don't want it looking gold. I'll begun with a rag with no polish and see how it goes.
