So I don’t need it, but there was a 96 pine mountain being advertised on local mart, fairly original except it had v brake upgrade and few other parts. He’s advertised it as. A Marin hybrid. Told me I need to come early , so skipped out of work stuck in traffic finally find his place and he produced a newish cheap looking mongoose . Tells me he sold the Marin ten minutes ago, but this will be just as good!

Do I get karma point for not punching him?

Absolutely. Inhad a similar experience on Gumtree when a seller advertised a picture of a tidy Concorde road bike with some nice C Record parts. I turned up to look at it and the only thing that it had in common with the advert’s picture was a poorly applied Concorde sticker on the down tube! :facepalm:

Had similar just last week. Looking at a specialized and messaged the guy before I left to check. All good. On the way to collect 5 minutes later he messages me saying hes just sold it to someone else.

I just didnt answer because pretty sure Id be banned from bookface for what I wanted to call him.

Similar thing happened to me. The guy is a member bookface and here.

A couple of years back on Gumtree, an Orange Elite was advertised, the guy classifies no cracks on the frame or any damage. Roll up to his house and on the headtube theres a great big crack the size of the San Andreas fault! Then he says to me "dont worry about that mate that will polish out"

I turned around and walked off, the pity is that it's probably now chained up outside someone's place and is going to rust into oblivion , and then they wil buy a BSO to replace it and wonder why the new bike doesn't ride as well.

Looks like he he has a lot of BSOs going through his hands so I've made him a deal. I won't report him, if he sends me photos of any old bikes he picks up. To him it was an old bike, and he can't believe someone bought the old bike when the new ones are better!
