this isnt a bike its a work of art

Is the following strange?

At around 8 this morning it was at £560 or so. I looked again 10 minutes ago and it was back to 99p with 3 hours 20 to go, no bids and a BIN of > £3,500 with no reserve. I stuck in a bid of £500 and was the first bidder.

5 minutes later there were no bids and it was back at 99p so I stuck in £500 again. Is the seller just cancelling bids?

Very odd indeed have you sent him a message to see whats what on that i was just about to go look for this to see if it was still up or sold as was interested in seeing what it actually went for

he just wants someone to hit the BIN .

and it is not going to happen . it is a lovely bike , but very personal .

Well it gets stranger!

Unbidden the seller sent a message to say that the Mercian is no longer for sale but there it still is but now with no BIN and several bids (including another from me!). Not sure what to make of it all but I guess we'll know in a couple of hours time.

Just the kind of "funny" antics you'd expect from somebody selling a clown bike.

If I was messed about like that, I'd cancel my bid and stay well away from that auction. Too much money involved to be tolerating that kind of weirdness.

Good luck with it, though.

AFAIK you can't cancel an eBay auction in the last twelve hours (it may be 24). However, it's common courtesy to replace the item text with a "don't bid, this item no longer exists" explanation, or suchlike.
Very odd.

It gets weirder. I sent him a message to let him know (otherwise, of course, he's contractually obliged to sell the bike to me if I put in a bid in the closing seconds of the auction) and got a reply back in ALL CAPS saying he doesn't want to sell the bike any more, and "ebay have been informed of this and accept it."

eBay won't accept it, eBay are only concerned with the ££ they can get. They'll hold him to the contract - or at least, won't remove negative feedback he'll get from an unhappy "winning" bidder.

Anyone who could have thought that there was even a remote possibility of this going for £4,500 is either deluded or wishes to make it look as if TRYING to sell it. "Honest, luv, I would sell it and buy you a holiday if only someone would pay what it's worth...." syndrome.

Could get a new one spec'd and painted to your choice for not much over 2 grand, so no-one is going to go double! Simply not sufficiently rare/irreplaceable.

i cant stand those bars...i like the brake ect tho i do think 4gess is a bit much ...even 3 would be pushing it a tad....
