Things that make your heart drop

I believe the lifetime warranty is only a warranty from manufacturing defects.

If it had cracked lengthwise along a weld then you would have a claim. The unusual crack across 2 welds and bridging 2 tubes could be looked at as overstressed due to abuse, whether it has been subjected to such or not.

Is a nice frame though. 8) 8) 8)

"Was" a nice frame. Now a nice paperweight.

It's funny to read the comments in this thread. I realize it is not covered under the Litespeed warranty (now or then). I'm not trying to get something for free. I used the bike, never abused it, and had many great years; sure I wish it hadn't broken, and wish Litespeed would do more for me, but ultimately it is what it is. I can't argue with the people that make the rules.

Thanks for the moral support. I hope other ti owners have better luck than me. My head is officially out of my ass.

If you want a manufacturer who really looks after you then buy a new Turner.

My 2ps worth.

The "Lifetime" warranty isn't worth the ar$e paper it's written on. It's a shame, Litespeed was an aspirational brand for me until I read this thread.

I bought a second hand 1960s Zippo lighter from a boot fair for a quid. The spring had broken. I sent it back to Zippo, they fixed it and sent it back with a packet of flints and a book on Zippo lighters. That's how a lifetime warranty works Litespeed.

Exactly!

Ah yes, but would they have if the initial purchase price was the equivalent of the Litespeed huh? Huh? Go on then...

...and for the record one of my first purchases off eBay was an old top-of-the-range, now discontinued, Fluke multimeter that came without batteries or fuses. As luck would have it I discovered that their Head Office was a short walk from my own in Norwich - when I took it in to see if they still supported that model I got 'Gor blimey, tha's an oldun - givvus a minute - grab yersel' a coffee...' The guy went out the back to the workshop, came back 10 minutes later, said 'There yer go...' and presented me with my instantly refurb'd and calibrated meter - FREE GRATIS!

First, sorry see your riding stead out of action.

If they put a 15 year warranty, then surely they have decided their mechanical design, material choice and manufacturing processes will survive - at a minimum - that stated usefull life expectancy for it's intended purpose.

This simply couldn't exclude the accumulative effects of normal wear and tear on the final product for that period. It's a damn MTB frame, not a stationary ornament and not a moving part like a chain!

This invisible wear and tear hasn't been measured, and so it's left to the Management Team to decide (!) the circumstances of failure in that period and open a nice suitable door out of the warranty clause.

It failed within the warranty period, so you have a case. If there is no stated weight limits, or it said "not to be thrashed day in and day out" or other conditions, then that's Litespeeds problem not yours.

A written 2nd opinion from an engineering authority would probably serve the case better to describe the fault. It's a crack - I don't see anything worn out I just see a manufacturing fault in the tubing.

Litespeed see it's worn out......but are not able to show proof.
