Why don't you build a teenage replica My first mountain bike was a bizzare collection of bits I don't think I want to go there again.

Its because you dont seem to get stickers with the parts you buy these days. BITD, I plastered my bikes with the 'upgrade' stickers, blue Shimano decals, Zoom decals, Ritchey decals etc etc.

For a teenage replica, round here would have been a yellow Claud Butler with 501 tubing or a Raleigh Yukon - then plaster it in MBUK stickers and upgrade sticker

I'm still riding a bike like that. Mix of old and new bits. Ranging from an xtr front mech to shifters of a childrens bike I found in the trash. Also, Zoom and Grip shift stickers on the frame (stickers lasted longer than the shifters...). Hoping to upgrade this winter, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

BITD all my stickers were plastered over the tool box...my bike cost me too much in paper rounds to go defacing with freebies off the front of MBUK.

Surely this is the same as the period correct thread? You just build what you want or what you can afford. Who cares, it's for no one else but yourself.

You have not posed a question either. Search the bikes posted, there are bikes in there like you want. Or buy some old MBUK stickers and cover your own bike.

I have more stickers on the Marin now then I did have BITD (because I either pulled them off or they fell off the zolotone )

The only junk / garbage on it was a little squeaky bug that clipped onto a cable and I used it as a piss take horn / bell

As I recently found the little critter in Dads garage, it will be making a return soon ... Retro bug …
