Dear fellow bonded bicycle conaisseur

This is the official bonded bicycle thread, discussing and showing all species bonded bicycle: carbon, steel, aluminum, titanium, glued, bolted, riveted, cross & road ...all.

I'll take off with my good old Guerciotti (ALAN) Cross -->

Glued and bolted construction in aluminium. The headtube lugs show small engravings. Alan typical the tubing is anodized. Fork is a bonded aluminium construction too.

Did the cross Alan and in particular the Guerciotti came with carbon tubing too ? ...and titanium ?

Sadly had to sell this Guerciotti when moving to another place. Will have a very tough time finding a new crosser as nice. Actually gave up on it.

Actually, I have been reliably informed that ALAN's are glued AND screwed which is why they don't fail like others sometimes do. It's only the seat tube - which is fitted last - which is glued at the top into the seat lug. All other joints have the tubes 'screwed' into the lugs with the adhesive.

Pic of my 1991 Koga FullPro fork -->

2 blades 'Carbolite' (carbon wrapped al, like with most carbon bikes back in the day), glued to aluminum crown. Steel (threaded) steerer. According to catalogue 598gr and the 1st carbon fork available on the European market. I do not ride it anymore.

It is obvious a Vitus frame lends itself always very well for a clean build. I have a CL1 (MTB) frame laying around for light years already ...with plans as old. Should make a start some day :roll:

Cables run covered under the down tube and slotted under the toptube. Tubing is partially round, partially square.

You can run cantis or U-brake (or both if you wish!). Quirky seatpost clamp (like Ringle or Syncros ahead wedge)

This was my 1st proper bicycle, the 1992 Koga-Miyata TerraLiner Carbolite:

A hybrid.

'Carbolite' tubing
cast aluminum lugs
'Hardtlite' steel forks
full Black XT
Syncros allover
Titanio seat

The odd things under the downtube are Miyata CO2 cartridges

Very neat, sophisticated bike it was.

Another Japanese manufacturer carried this hybrid with carbon wrapped titanium tubing in its 1992 line up, the C-Pacer:

Both bicycles were finished with great dedication, for example because of the 6 or 7 layer coating process.
