this one then - its got tf card, usb and a couple of analog inputs

file.php

it arrived yesterday, I paid (frankly ridiculous) £24.

1. it's even smaller than I expected.

2. I'm running it from a 1000ma supply as it's all I had knocking about.

3. I've not bothered trying to run FLAC files through it, just MP3s.

This little bugger is decent! Okay, the 'interface' is unbelievably basic, but you were totally right with this. The sound quality is surprisingly good. Thanks Matey.

In other news, and in stark contrast to the little amp above, I took a decision on the sub for my proper hifi... I bought a 300W plate amp and made a box for a nice old 10" Focal sub that I had in the loft. it was in my car, but needs a pretty big sealed box to get down to a decent Q of between 7-8. I've got it in a sealed box of about 33 litres, and had it running last night. literally, had the glasses in the kitchen rattling during 'testing'. Sweeeet....

I had to check after LGF questioning my system; The B&W really only work down to about 70hz. the sub (in this box) has a really flat response from about 35hz up to about 200, but I've set the crossover around 90Hz.

Have to admit I remain pretty retro when it comes to stereo systems - mainly vinyl, CDs, tuner and I still have tapes although they rarely see the light of day - which is a shame as I have 100s and the Yamaha cassette deck isn't shabby at all.

However recently I've been hooking up my laptop to the separates system and playing stuff through youtube and other sources with good results. Might be tempted by the dark side and investigate some form of streaming unit and actually pay a subscription!!

..........trouble is I know nothing about them and refuse to go into modern hifi shops for my own sanity as I'd be like a kid in a sweet shop, with no pocket money :p

Anyone want a Cambridge Audio A1? I think it's a V3 so no phono preamp built in, but if you want it for vinyl I can include a Behringer preamp for nowt extra (presuming I can find it!)
£40 collected from Glossop.

Edit : Got some Mission 731i's for fronts, some Mordaunt Short 902i's for rears. Just need a centre and sub.

I inherited my uncles HiFi upon his passing earlier this year. My uncle introduced me to HiFi and quality sound back in the 80's with this system and up to the day of my receiving it neither me or his own children were allowed to touch 'The Linn' hehe. My cousins have asked for me to be the custodian of the system until I pop my clogs, I'm writing it into my will that it will be passed onto the son of my cousin. The system comprises:

Linn Sondek LP12 - Linn Akito tone arm, Audio Technica AT-OC30 MC Cartridge / Stylus and Valhalla power supply.
Nytech CP112 Pre Amp
Nytech CPA602 Power Amp
Lentek S4 Speakers

I had the Linn Sondek serviced when I received it for £200.
The Nytech Amp's are currently with Nytech Audio having a full upgrade to the value of £640.
The Lentek speakers will have their finish stripped back by me and re finished with either Tung Oil or Danish Oil as the wood is very dry and the finish scrapes off with my fingernail.

My own system which I have had since the late 80's / early 90's comprises:
Rega Panar 3 with Goldring 1012gx cartridge / stylus and Tango Spinner sub platter with brass pulley.
Rotel Rotel RA-870BX (Previously Rotel 830AX)
Rotel RCD-965BX
Tannoy 611 MKI Speakers

I did find that the Lentek speakers didn't sounds as nice as my Tannoy 611's when matched up with the Linn and Nytech amps. This may just be due to my room layout however as I have wooden floors and no wallpaper. The sound just bounces around all over the place hehe

I have a spare Monitor Audio centre for not much, no sub at the mo

I have those Lentek too (but you already would have guessed that, I have everything)

They would have also had very spongy covers that would have disintegrated years ago.

I also had the very big versions too and thought they were bust. The crossovers needed work, after that they were excellent so I would look at the crossovers in yours.

As for Nytech, it was a very acquired taste at the time!

Thanks for the reply.

Scored a Mordaunt-Short Avant 905i centre for £20 yesterday, although it's of substantial dimension and perhaps warrants its own shelf now, whereas the outgoing Samsung was about the size of a date box and was happy on it's blu-tac feet atop the wall-mounted mancave telly.

I might have gone too big.. :)

Sub I am still contemplating. The whole room needs emptying before I can get to wiring everything in and working out what space I have for it.

Going with a second bluetooth-enabled amp receiving the rear-out signal from the AV receiver via a AptX LL BT transmitter. Going to be fun pairing two screenless devices together. But in my mind it will all work seamlessly.
