The last hope of the USA

Dont know were you get the info the pound is failing it's not simply as we arent bailing out the euro and wont be . It's lasted for hundreds of years and 2 world wars when the UK was bankrupt. I know there is people in Europe and in the UK which would love it tl fail so we would join the euro.

Even if Scotland does go solo I think Alex is going to get a slap in the kisser when we get the referendum on joining the euro.

That is ridiculous.
Sounds a bit like 'teaarists attacked us on 9/11 'cause they hate our freedome' or 'They just hate us because were awesome and they envy it'
No european who isn't a plain dumbass would want the GBP to fail.
I know I don't.

It won't. We've got more sense.

And there's something ironic about 'independence' from the UK but wanting to join the EU/Euro.

Salmond's a fat smarmy bawbag.

No most of us in the UK are all for what the EEC was originally for not what it's become. You only have to look at the transaction tax they are trying to impose on London to give other cities an edge over it. Time we got a vote what we want from the EU

That transaction tax wouldn't hurt you.
It would hurt the City. Many banksters who are ruining the world's economy dwell there.

Agreed.

Aye because none of us have any interests in the city through savings, investments, pensions etc. And that's before the flight of capital, taxes and jobs if it was ever introduced, If it isn't applied everywhere equally then it's utterly self-defeating.

EU. ➡️

It's a tax on transactions as it seems to me. It will tax big transactions to make it harder for speculants to ..erm speculate. It's not a tax on savings, investments, pensions etc. Don't see how it would hurt the ordinary people.
Unless I'm ought to believe in trickle down economics.

It is ment to be implemented the same all across the EU, but would hurt speculants and the likes the most in the City because that's where there are many of those scumbags. Good thing those banksters got some good friends in the government and media who convinced the public that it's a 'tax on London' or those poor speculants might have gotten a harder future.

Not directly, but it isn't their own money they're speculating with is it? Who pays in the end?

But not in the other 190odd countries of the world...

I don't think a tax vendetta on bankers is the most productive way forward, however attractive it may seem to many.

I'm generally not for tax rises on anything (think Ron Paul Jr ;)) but don't have an objection to a tiny %age on transactions if applied globally to help get us out a hole. But to apply it UK but not EU, or EU but not US is stupid and unworkable, and thankfully not going to happen.
