The Immigration Debate........

So , how far back into history do we have to go , before we were invaded by foreigners , and were truly British , with purely British identities and culture ? How many thousands of years are we talking here ?

I don't have any qualifications in history . However , were we not invaded by the Romans before 100AD ? Still what have the Romans done for us ?

And before them , didn't the vikings come here too ?

Food for thought , though obviously not pizza , not part of our culture is it .

We are all foreigners!

First came the nomadic hunter gatherer tribes before and after the ice age
Then a steady stream of people came over from Europe settling down to become what we know as 'Ancient Britons' in layman's terms (which is also where the word Brittany comes from)
Then the Romans came and conquered us the second time they visited
Then the Roman empire broke down and the 'Dark Ages' started with a steady flow of Jutes, Angles, Saxons and probably a few more, this was also when the Vikings turned up.
Then the Normans turned up
By now trade routes were pretty much opened up across the known world with a steady flow of people backwards and forwards across it, for example Egyptian jewels have been found in medieval Scottish graves and Arabian (geographically correct if not the right name) coins have been found in Viking hordes.
Over medieval times until recently all sorts of people found a way to our shores, generally on the back of trade either good (spices, metals, food etc) or bad (slavery)

The EDL have a lot of Richard the Lionheart imagery about their marketing - He didn't speak English and spent less than a year of his entire ten year reign in England!

This is a good link to find out the origins of where you live

The argument that national identity is defined by a language is as weak as the idea that gay marriage devalues heterosexual marriage
the comparison you make is very much chalk & cheese.

is it really though

thing x devalues/weakens thing y. Chances are thing y wasnt very strong in the first place.

That's lovely. That really doesnt relate to this case at all.

Does them owning an apollo make your pace less good?

Look forward to meeting you for one of our local rides soon , whatever your origins .
Unless you're in the EDL /BNP that is !
