Hi everybody! This is the new thread for all things STARWARS!!!!

Here we will discuss, show pics and buy/sell/swap things to do with our favourite subject.

I'm kicking off at the very beginning -
I was 5 years old and I remember it was a very hot day and the line went round the cinema several times.we eventually got in there and as the lights came down I didn't know what to expect.
Then that amazing music started and I was hooked before the action even started. Before anyone in the cinema was expecting it a ship flew over accompanied by loud laser blasts making us all gasp.THEN the star destroyer came after, dwarfing the first ship!
My journey into the world of STARWARS had begun!

Let me know of any memories you might have!

Re:

Only starting to get into Star Wars , watch the three old films a few months ago and now hooked, seen the new film. But not see. The first three films yet, the newer ones of the old ones.

Also got a few of the old toys from back in the day but got parts missing from them.

What collections everyone got?

I'm a massive fan of the first three Star Wars films (episodes 4, 5 and 6 if you must) and love re-watching them. I was introduced to the brilliance that is Star Wars by my uncle and I'm forever indebted to him for that although I've now eclipsed his enthusiasm.

I'm not really a fan of the three prequels but they do have some redeeming features like; the fight between Obi Wan, Qui Gon and Darth Maul, the arena battle on geonoisis and General Grievous.

I went to see The Force Awakens and I was not at all impressed which I was gutted about as I really wanted to enjoy it. It just felt like a re-make of A New Hope with more gimmicks and child friendly characters. For me the difference between episodes 4,5 and 6 and 1,2,3 and 7 is that the former are films made for adults that also appeal to children while the latter are made for kids with the assumption their parents and hard-core fans will also go and see them.

Re:

I agree with you about the force awakens story-wise but I did enjoy it!
When it comes to the prequels its very strange for me-I enjoyed them immensely when I first watched them, but do I want to watch them again? Not really

Trivia question-in attack of the clones the Jedi are offered 'death sticks' but a less than savory character.
What famous film is the actor from and what was he called in that film?
I know someone will just Google it but I spotted him myself

I've never seen Star Wars or any of the others because I don't do make believe fantasy stories. Same with costume dramas. Unless is set in something or somewhere I can relate to it's right off limits.

Having said that I know the cantina tune because it's sampled on various records. Well I know now because someone pointed it out, otherwise I wouldn't have had a clue. Cracking wee tune.

That's as far as I can contribute to this thread (some will be happy to hear!).

Saw it also when I was 5, almost didn't, I was a bit scared... hid behind the seat a lot...but then saw it 4 more times at the cinema as they kept re-releasing it over the next few years.
Basically for me growing up was star wars (and battlesar galactica, but somehow missed star trek and dr who was far too scary) and lord of the rings (not the daft movies though).

Re:

I hid behind the seat when the tuskan raider attacked luke! Always wondered what sand people looked like under their get-up!
