The budget

£50 a year worse off, without taking into account the new 20% vat rate

Only drink a few pints a week & smoke a few cigs, only use ~10 litres of diesel a week too.

Thanks for helping out the low earners* like you said you would you lying tossers, then again what do we expect from government, they're a bunch of lying thieving porn watching moat owning self serving arrogant gimps with no idea of the real world.

* I'm not exactly a high earner @ £15kpa

This is the kind of sh*t a working class boy like myself has been voting against all his adult life.

We all know the Tories are scumbags, and now they are dragging that bunch of weak turncoats with them!

Tax the rich.

It was never going to be good though was it?!?!?!

And as for the Tory bashing, hahahaha!! Labour did such a blinding job didn't they?!?! Mind you all the chavs round worthing have the latest phones, are permanently eating out at the takeaways and drink most nights of the week, so they must be doing very well for themselves on their meagre labour benefits

And if they want to Eff off to Switzerland, no problem; they can just leave their British passports at the exit desk.....
:P :P

Did I miss something??

What I heard was that the tax (and N.I. ? ) threshhold would be raised, meaning a stack of lower paid would not be paying tax..
No raise in duty on booze, fags or fuel..
Tax credits would be reduced for the higher incomes too. .

This is weighted against the higher paid/richer folk??

It's the first budget I've ever listened to, generally waiting for it to be presented in black and white rather than politician speak. . :?

Best news I have ever heard on the news.

I really think that the last 10 years have been mis managed.

Forget George Osborne, I'd have made Alvin Hall chancellor!

If every one pays a bit we get it sorted. Simple as.

I feel for anyone disproportionately affected by the changes, the rules cannot work for everyone and for those who work hard, earn little and are now being hit; that sucks.

But honestly the system is screwed, this is a bitter pill and the sooner swallowed the better.

The only thing that bothers me, we as a household have a very good income, WTF is up with £80 a month child benefit. We are going to start paying school fees next year. Surely this should be means tested, households on under £60k or something. We just put it into her savings account. The £250 we got when she was born, + £80 / month until 18 or whenever should get her a car / uni tuition / Glastonbury ticket or whatever she wants then. I really don't need it and wish there was a way to tick a box on your self cert form to not be paid it. :?

One thing to remember is what has still to kick in from labours last budget a few months back. I think that's where my child and working tax credit increase actually comes from and any of the duties on other thing fuel etc ? that have still got to get to their kick start date.

Food price rises will only be due to shipping&handling along the chains etc, not due to VAT as it's still Zero for food, not posh food though ;)) same for childrens clothes it's still at zero.
