Im in the middle of giving advice via PM .Great for him but as its a set of questions ive been asked before and no doubt will again, not for others wondering the same thing.
A tech section would help for this i think :?

So can we have a tech section outwith bike chat[off topic/retro chat/etc]

We seem to have a section for everything else

I was thinking this, as the same questions get asked over and over, and the search is long winded.

Perhaps once a definitive guide/answer to a certain problem is agreed on said thread could be stickied and locked.

Would help, the number of 'how do I polish my frame', 'can I run 7/8/9/10 speed', 'how do I fix this', and 'does this work with that' threads there have been. A lot of work for somebody but won't stop newbies asking those same questions again.

There is a sticky section on another forum I use with all the tech info in it

How do I XYZ etc...

If a new user asks a question that is answered in that section a simple link to the relevant answer is all that's needed to help them out.

so a retro tech section?

i could probably scan in some hayne pages

pictures always work for me

Not sure that it could be done on a forum as it is organised chronologically, most recent post first.

Could be done as a wiki though...

Be good to have a tech forum where you could post questions.

I'm a noob really when it comes to bike building / maintenance and i'm never really sure where to post when I have a question.
