It was merely a bit of subtle humour, after another comment by Dr S in the BOTM thread that was direct reply to LGF - and it was merely countering the perspective that (effectively) we'd better keep you guys from the US sweet, or you'd all leave, and retrobike would go to the dogs.
Completely wrong. It wasn't a comment aimed at LGF alone, rather than those who had jumped on the bandwagon along side him, with the same 'Us versus Them' bullshit that this thread, and so many others had descended into.
I did point out that in that thread we were alienating some US members who bring many gifts to the table- Knowledge, insight, help sourcing parts, etc, etc. It matters not where they come from, the point i was trying to make is that good contributors to this site were being picked apart and bullied for having a different point of view.
Now, personalities aside, like them or not, the people contributing to this thread should be respected for their knowledge, commitment to sourcing and restoring some of the finest and rarest of bikes, and therefore should be respected as such, even if their manners are not 'English' enough for our tastes.
And yeah, without such contributors, Retrobike would indeed go to the dogs.
