help needed setting up said brake.
what I think I know; the springs are sided left and right (right is gold left is silver, though both may appear the same colour with age, surely they are all at least 20 yrs old now). Turn the tension adjuster with spanner and hold in position whilst tightening the bolt that holds the arm on to the frame... when I do this the arm sticks in place with little force applied to bolt, if I loosen it off the tension goes slack.
Anyone know the correct set up procedure or better still have some instructions they can post?

my other question concerns the brake pads. They fit like conventional canti pads but have shorter shafts ( to enable crank arm clearance) In changing the pads do I simply use regular canti pads and saw off the excess shaft?

no one knows how to set up rollercam brakes? there must be someone somewhere somehow somemothersdoavem...

I've seen a Suntour tool pop up on ebay every now and then, sort of a U-shaped metal bit that holds the arms proper so you can set them up with both hands free. Unfortunately I forgot to bid on the last one I saw a few months ago so I do mine by.......trial and error. They seem to be working well, I set them super-tight to the rim, and then used the barrel adjuster (thread it 2/3 out when you start) on the lever to give the pads some clearance. It's also helpful if both rollers are moving freely-if one is stickier than the other, problems ensue.

I just installed a set of Aztec pads today-huge difference in stopping power over the 25 year-old Shimano pads that were on there. The posts did not need to be cut, they were just slightly longer than the old ones.

I could just fit U brakes? I only have the rollercam at the back under the chain stays- I understand u brakes may fit?
