hiya.
i found some cranks lying around by sugino.assuming they are mtb id like to complete them as the arms will polish up ok and pretty lightweight.
you see,im used to swapping over entire chainsets rather than changing rings and getting involved with pdc mesurements and so forth.
just a few questions then.
1.is this spider a triple?
2.does the 55 stamped into arm mean the distance between fixing bolts?
3.would only in- house rings by sugino fit?
4.do you have any for sale,good nick,affordable(cheap)any tooth quantity?

if i cant obtain any rings im glad for any advice.so far i know they are 170mm,9/16 pedals,55 stamp in arm.
thanks in advance. :)

1. Yes
2. No idea
3. Most would, although not all.
4. Probably. You want 110bcd for the big rings, 74 for the granny.

Sugino chainsets are lovely. Nice find!

Yes, nice cranks - much nicer castings than offerings from the same era from the big s :wink:

Made cranks for both ritchey :

Yes, the castings seem as clean / smooth around the back as on the front.

The ritchey for the marin was nos and the camera won't catch it but it has kind of got a pearl / petrol on water / cd style finish.

Does yous not have ritchey markings on it anywhere ? I 'think' they were the first to do the hidden fifth bolt, not sure if they let sugino carry it on in future though ?

the 55 is the model number.

75 being the popular track crank and XD being the most popular all round/MTB crank.

Sugino also made cranks for Stronglight and probably a few others nodoubt..

remember the Stronglight Impact crank? well that was the XD rebranded.
both featuring the hidden 5th bolt.
I seem to remember the cranks had XD2R or XD3R cast into the back
2 for the double and 3 for the triple ring crank.

To add to your info my ritchey compact has TRC cast into the back in raised letters and sugino japan ritchey 175 D-4 engraved in the back. The small ring mounting holes are a different design to those on the pic above.

I will check the spez crank on my mums orange but the ealiest I can do that is weekend, if I remember ...

56mm = 32.9mm
58mm = 34.1mm
74mm = 43.5mm
86mm = 50.3mm
94mm = 55.3mm
110mm = 64.7mm
118mm = 69.4mm
130mm = 76.4mm
135mm = 79.4mm
144mm = 84.6mm

might be of help?
