I think what Brexit and the U.S. elections have shown, is just how many blinkered up themselves people think democracy is only okay until it does not go their own way and when it doesn't, then it is everyone else's fault because they are too stupid to understand whilst they remain intelligent enough to tell them that.
There is nothing wrong with you being unhappy a vote hasn't gone your way but to then come out with the lunatic options why, highlights how society is changing. It doesn't help with a flooded market of media all trying to outdo each other. Example, today "Riots across America because of Trumps win" in a country of 20,000 cities they then listed 7 and the riots? groups of millennials, students and the great unwashed with most groups not totalling more than 70 people.
Trump isn't even in yet, Brexit hasn't even started yet but the self proclaimed intelligentsia apparently are clairvoyants but in truth most will be half empty glass people.
I saw a headline which I feel captured the mood "Trump’s triumph has crushed the lefty luvvies, useless pollsters, multicultural mafia and gender Nazis who refuse to listen to regular people."
Trump like Brexit, tapped into the majority who often felt/feel that we are so busy being politically correct that we become blinkered as to how democracies work particularly when it comes to voting, movement and some who benefit from that, see the majority as dumb asses who need to be told what to do and not express it or they will be shut down with terms such as racist, xenophobic, homophobic, sexist, misogynist
The only place I see one sided democracy is North Korea, every where else is majority vote, get used to it.
