Stolen Bike

So who has had bike stolen in the past?

I ahve had 3 stolen back in the day and thats what drew mw to this site hoping it could turn up ;o)

I had a Purlple 1991 18" Lavadome stolen

1992 15.5" Eldridge just spent hundreds the following xmas on bits use post, flight saddle, stubbie pro, Ti Bars, 986 brakes etc then it went!!

and also a 1993 Indian fire trail got this re laqured the resprayed Lime green had blue parts including middleburn cranks hope bb got

both got pintched with back wheel missing as they were boing repaired at the time.

would love to know where they went

look what I found!! only frame, BB, stem, bars shifters front mech left but this was my bike!!!!!

I've had a couple pinched. Though the most annoying one was when I nipped in to get a takeaway curry, came out and discovered both my wheels had gone. AS I was in a hurry I'd just D locked the frame. Long walk back to the house carrying my bike and curry.

To date, touch wood, I haven't had one stolen, but I attribute that to never letting any bike that looks half decent out of my sight. If I know I'm going to leave a bike, I always use something with little thief appeal and even then I use a decent cable lock throgh both wheels and the frame and try not to leave it more than half an hour.

It's sad, but the need to keep a "rat" bike and messing about using awkward cable locks or even multiple locks completely negates the "pop to the shops and beat the traffic" convenience of a bike.

I'm still undecided as to whether to fix up my old Marin or whether to leave it scruffy, so that I'm not frightened to actually use it.

Mint almost NOS Kona Kileua (dont ask me to spell it) in blue with red RS Judys and M737/739 throughout...

Ist Gen Orange Msisle....black and beautiful..went Xmas day out of my lean-to...they broke into my car as well and nicked my helmet...

Kona Chute...chained to a tree outside my house with a for sale sign on.
Bought as frame only and built lovingly with bits on sale from the various mail order places...

It was locked with 2 heavy duty MC chains..would have beed easier to fell the tree I suspect....

Had a few stolen, only one I'd really like to see again - 1994 GT Karakoram 18", rigid Bologna fork black Deore LX group, polished Syncros Cattlehead, grey anodized riser bars, black Flite saddle, S & M DX type platform pedals. Stolen in Luton, Beds. in early 2000. Probably sold for the going rate of a bag of smack/crack.

Love to see that bike again, keep an eye you Beds. riders.

My sister had an Appollo Kalamundo in safety vest orange stolen.
The fella who took it even took the lock.
We saw him riding it a few weeks later, didn't bother stopping him. The brakes were awful anyway.

Never had a bike stolen myself, always kept them in my sights.
Or just been lucky.

My first one got taken off me!! only left my sight when the guys were riding it off i was only 14/15.

other 2 stolen from really secure storage so think people newe they where there. i never leave them anywhere locked up.

i had my trials bike nicked from H.M.S Nelson in 2001 by a dirty local popmy scumbag dockyard worker (only dockys are dirty nasty people in pompy) got it back 2 years later and docky got away with it :x but got it back :shock:

then had my woodman elite nicked in 2005 from outside the fish shop but again was lucky enough to get it back again 2 weeks later from the chav that nabed it :shock: so glad i got it back
