Staring redundancy in the face .....

it was about 7-8 months from talking about job future before my last workplace confirm about offering redundancy, what they had been saying between then was just never adding up, so the atmosphere was really crap at work, finally they did say, and luckily for me and some of the office that were on one contract were elligable (the other half were denied it, and so were very upset), i said was always going ot take it, and now i had to call my bluff,

Took it, and left with some money, and luckily was never out of work since then, - I recomend just blitzing the agencies.

I was redundantified just over a year ago. Went freelance, haven't starved or been evicted. I know plenty of people who've been through it and it's always worked out in the end.

It used to be a massive deal.. seems like since the early 90's it's a relatively common occurrence..

My first was 1990.. cost me my house.

Second was 2001, following my bike crash.. walked away from that with £26k.
Shame I was pretty immobile otherwise I'd have used the money to better effect.

Lucky you, I keep hoping we go into consultancy again so I can do voluntary redundancy!

Redundancy is everywhere at the moment - I've escaped by swapping jobs and going for retraining but my OH has finished with our LA today!

been through this a few times when i was younger, though left with barely nothing with me not having much time in jobs.

been in my current job for 10yrs though, so if it did go wrong here id be better looked after.......i hope.

things will get better bud.
