split hood fix...how?

I put a patch on the back of the split fixed with a strong adhesive, I use an upholsterers' spray, run a little up the edge of the split as well, leave till tacky then apply the patch and butt the torn edged together. the patch provides strength and prevents the edged from pulling apart before the glue has 'cured'.
An off-cut of cloth bar or rim tape works well as it has plenty of flex and is thin so no bulges. :D

+1 here for superglue.. watched my dad glue a split about 25mm long on his shimano 105 (pre STI) hoods which had no signs of splitting again after 3 weeks of my riding it around in stupid hot spanish heat july last year and i'm one for riding on the hoods too (as apposed to in da hoods lol). was also a very neat repair to be fair

+2 on superglue. Had no problems yet with the repair. Fix in situ though. Also heard that puncture repair patch on the back works, but not tried it yet. Laz.
