So, how good are King Kahunas?

I picked up a rather nice King Kahuna off ebay a few months ago, its a nice mix of carbon and ti finishing kit including RC36's and some original Hope C2 brakes.

How do the KK frames stack up against the other Ti big boys? are they better made frames than say the GT Xizang?

I'm fairly new to this so you'll have to excuse my newbieness - it's a wonderful bike anyway.

KK's are fantastic. Superb geometry and handling. Not as flexy as a Hei Hei due to the gusseting. My favourite ride, and not because it's a Kona. Just an all round great bike.

Also lighter than a GT as it only has two triangles

In common with many other brands, Kona had their ti frames built by TiSports, formerly TST, using Sandvic tubing. So the bike is really a TST with Kona geometry, built to the same quality as all the other brands that TST built for, which is a pretty high quality. That's not to say that most people wouldn't prefer a Merlin, but you don't ever hear anything but good about TST build quality in my experience.

Absolutely right. The welds are superb and up there with Seven and Moots quality. You can actually still order a frame from them.

.

Who else did TST build for BiTD??

Anyone have the KK mix of tubing or was that idea unique to Kona??

Re: .

beat me to it!

I don't know about that use of 6/4 stays. I imagine it would have been TST's idea, rather than Kona's, but I'm not clear what its advantages are over 3/2.5.
