silver GT Zaskar

it's my first post here - I've read the rules on selling here & hope I've got it right!

Looking for £500 but open to offers; this is the first time I've ever managed to bring myself to sell a bike.

You guys will probably know more than me about this bike, so I'll keep it to the details I know for sure...

* Polished silver, aluminium GT Zaskar frame; The original ebay advert for this bike said it was a 20" frame, but I'm just under 5'10" & it fits me perfectly. There's enough room to drop or raise the saddle a couple of inches, so should fit anyone from 5'8" to 6', I'd guess
* Adjustable RST suspension forks - these still work perfectly
* Middleburn RS-3 cranks & rings
* XTR rear mech
* Roox seatpost
* X-Lite saddle
* Tranz X stem
* Tioga headset
* X-Lite titanium handlebars
* X-Lite bar-ends
* X-Lite brake levers
* GripShift X-Ray shifters
* 8-speed cassette
* Dia Compe brakes with X-Lite bolts
* Mavic 217 purple rims/Camel tyres

Either the gripshifts or the rear mech require a small tweak; when switching a couple of gears at once it will only switch one gear then switch the other a few seconds later. Should be fixable I guess but it's never concerned me enough to bother getting it done. Other than that it's faultless.

Local pickup from London, N11, preferred, but I'll deliver it within 10 miles for free, or within 30 miles for the cost of petrol.

Any questions, let me know.

cheers, Rob

oooh mines gonna look a lot like that, lovely bike have a bump and if you are splitting first dibs on lots of bits, might wanna ebay it to get perhaps close to that money, otherwise split and sell here, shame to split though

cheers. it's already on ebay, over 20 watchers but no meaningful bids yet. being honest, I'm lazy & just wanna sell the thing at once, rather than taking the time & effort to split it & deal with loads of people, postage etc., though if it doesn't meet the reserve on ebay I'll probably bite the bullet.

price is definitely negotiable if anyone's interested in the bike as a whole :)

Not usually a big GT fan, but I like that 8)

Not in the market myself, but a few dimensions might help your cause - centre BB to centre toptube, centre BB to top of seattube and centre to centre top tube length :wink:

If it's in both directions, the slow change is probably just wear in the chain/cassette, not so bad as it sounds as the chainrings (the expensive bit) look in really good nick as best I can tell on my little phone screen... If it's just in one direction (to a larger sprocket for example) then it may just need a tweak of the cable barrel adjuster :)

And more importantly:
Welcome to RB! :lol:

Hope you've more good stuff in the stable :wink:

cheers, appreciated!

I'm not much of a bike tinkerer, so I wasn't really sure what/where to measure, but I'll add some details tonight.

thanks for the welcome, though as I'm trying to offload my old mountain bikes rather than accumulate new ones, I suspect this could be rather a dangerous place to hang out ;-)

also in the stable is a Manitou System FS (going on ebay & here, tonight) & a Pace RC300 (with a cracked headtube, I'll start a thread on this at some point, as I'm desperate to have it repaired & back on the road)

have to sell the zaskar & manitou to pay for my new toy, a single-speed track bike (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=187927&id=590185068&l=90209b1552) - I figured as I've cycled 20 road miles a day to & from the office for the last 3 years, it was about time to retire the faithful workhorses & ride something more appropriate :)

as promised, here's some measurements:

centre BB - centre top tube: 51-52cm
centre BB - top of seat tube: 59cm
center to centre top tube: 60cm (not entirely sure I've measured the right thing here :roll: )

& as someone kindly pointed out privately, I've put the front wheel on the wrong way round :oops:

cheers, Rob

didn't have much luck on ebay - someone "won" it for £400 but I think it was a fake account just trying to figure out the reserve :(

to desperately avoid having to split it up (I haven't got a single bike-specific tool!), if anyone's interested I'll accept any offers around the £400 mark for this
