As a side question, how much do pro cyclists get paid, in comparison to other pro sports men/women?

I've always presumed (rightly or wrongly) that they are towards the bottom of the ladder.

I meant it in relation to other pro cyclists' wages not to sport in general which - in some cases (ie pro soccer) - can be ludicrous.

3. I dont understand drafting when climbing? Are they still going quick enough climbing to feel the benefits of using less energy tucking in behind? And again if a team still has 3 riders pulling their GC man up the hill , wouldnt you just tag on the end? :?

This year has been a belter!!

I think inn the climbing it is more to do with pacing the guy behind you rather than sheilding them from wind. If you are a strong climber pacing a sprinter up a hill it can make quite a difference to the sprinters pace, but at the end of the day if you are not a climber you are never going to do well up the hills.
eg. See Renshaw and Cav struggle on stage 14 up Plateau de Belle. Cav was actually very close to the time limit there!

didnt quite see it to that detail, but the sprinters are very good at timing it to the limit. No point busting a gut to get there half an hour earlier and draining ones self. The autobus gets regular timechecks and the sprinters domestiques of all the teams work together to all get there intact for the minimum effort. Quite an art of experience.

Yes quite. Although FDJs sprinter was outside the time limit on that one and was eliminated. Shows how close it can get.

stg 16 just finished. Good effort by Cav inside the top 50 for a hilly one and looks like he still put in a good effort to the line on his own which is good to see.

Respect to Voeckler hanging in there. Would be great if he won it!

The winner shares the money with his team riders. It's seen that he is more likely to earn bigger bucks due to the win, so does the honorable thing and gives the winnings to the other riders who got him the yellow jersey.
