Re:

89 ss stumpjumper.
not very period correct only parts that come close are the cranks, canti's (deore dx) and wheels (lx hubs with bx-23 rims). But it still looks very retro and is a nice ride.
I build it to make some money and when it does I can make more and get more people to ride (semi)classic steel mountainbikes and stop going to halfords and the likes.

hello, kinda a bike newbie. Need help identifying my frame. Tried google and having a hard time. Can't seem to find something similar, it does look like 1996 Specialized Stumpjumper but was the rear suspension customized or came along with the frame?

Bought from a friend way back in year 2000. Planning to restore my bike (front shock busted). The 'serial' underneath the frame reads as: DY9608011

Thanks for your help!

Re:

Thats no specialized I have ever seen!

Front triangle possibly, but rear looks like its from a raliegh activator, but shock position looks like Giant ATX?

Possibly a custom home built job back in the day, or something stickered up as a specialized.

Got couple decent parts though, atac stem, look like hyperlite bars?
Forks probably need oil and air.

Keep us updated :)

No, its a powdercoat and gil decal jobbie. Be surprised if an early M2 could hold onto its paint for 25 years! :-D

my new addition 1997 GC Extreme frame, in that lovely understated grabber green  a work in progress

I collected this at the weekend - a 1990 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp.

It's almost completely original bar the chainset, pedals and lever shifters, which will be replaced with original XT spec. BTW, can anyone tell me the code for the lever shifters, is it M095?

Here it is after a good wash (the first in a long time looking at the amount of dust and what looks like barn grime that came off it). There's a bit of rust staining to the paint, a bit of corrosion on the drive-side chainstay, and (sadly) the sidewalls of the Ground Control Extremes are going, but with a little TLC and a few NOS parts I think this will be a little belter! :D
