Re:

I mistakenly wore my regular shoes rather than the perfect for the job gore tex shimano walking boot type things. My feet were a tad icy.

Brrrrrrrrrr!

I made a start to the next build on my Karate Monkey. Will be SS and hoping it will slot in between the Cross Check and the Pugsley. Not sure those tyres are coming up fat enough but I'm loathe to buy 2.35" Big Apples since these are practically new. Bar angle might need a bit of adjustment but they were put in the stem before it was on the bike.

Looks like it'll be a ripper. Fancied trying something like this myself at one time, have you seen Schwalbe's new beach tyre? the Big One?

I have, and it looks proper awesome, but the £35 quid each is putting me off slightly!

They do say it's the fastest rolling tyre they've ever made though, so might be just what a fat duffer like me needs.

A little light reading.

Barry - what stem is that?

Set out today planning to get a ride up the Pentlands, but took one look at the snow and scuttled off to Blairadam instead. It was slightly (but not much) better...

Cheers Barry, could be just the ticket to get a bit more height on the Rooster - I see they do it in 31.8 clamp size as well. Got to love SJS.

Just be careful if you are intending full on balls out riding. I checked the Humpert site and from memory they class that stem as a sort of soft-road one. I'll see if I can find the link.

edit:

They class it as safety level 5, so might be fine for balls out!

Second edit:

Just checked this link. http://www.ergotec.de/wizard.html
For balls out you need safety level 6, so maybe it's just suitable for one ball slightly exposed to the wind.
