Proto only given to Animal Orange's (or was it Giant?) Steve Kitchen back in the day - Shimano gave up on em when they launched their Hydro's......

Nexave ones are a slightly different type but same Idea - Thats from Dirt #2 or 11 if I remember correctly

#2 I think.

A roller brake should basically never need servicing but this is what one looks like if you take it apart...

I saw some of these nexave ones on a modern commuter,

the bike in the photo looks like an orange mr o

I think the first fork is a Marzocchi Mr T which was the predecessor of the Jr T series.... again this fork was used by the Animal Orange Team for a season or two

I wish I could find my Dirt Mag with the picture of the Brakes being used, apparently they were pretty good at stopping but suffered from heat fade pretty badly

That's not a production MrT though, the front axel and brake arrangement is a little different.

The one Pagey ran on the Rotwild in 97/98 were identical to these - the brake arrangement would be different to accomodate the roller brake which.

I agree it may be a proto but I didn't think they were that different - MR T's must be pretty rare on the ground....

Very cool indeed. Wonder if they ever ran these with airlines or did the two not coincide?

Also did they not re use this technology later on city bikes?

I had bought a nexus shimano rear hub around 1998/99, give or take a year, with internal gears that had a brake setup similar to this....I need to find a pic. That hub was heavy as hell.

Here is a couple of photos from a few years ago taken from an ebay listing of a wheel for sale in the States (I have since lost the details):

And some much better pictures of what might be the same wheel (note ref. on sticker)?
Must be super rare esp. in this condition!
