Shimano M600 Groupset - Specifically The DX Spin Off Stuff .

When was it introduced/how long did it run for?

I know (think) M600 was introduced in 1997 but cannot find anything about the DX branded M600 stuff.

Anyone help?

It wasnt a groupset it was just brakes.

the "DX" brakes were just red M600s, there were a few other DX parts for BMX but they share nothing but the name and some red

That I knew already - hence the spin off bit in the title.

The DX stuff covered the brakes and pedals.

What I was after was a year of production and length of production i.e. did they come out with the regular m600 in 1997 or for a short time during the m600 production.

There was a BMX hub as well. I dont think it was long after M600 that the brakes started appearing, maybe early 98?

According to this M600 appeared for 97 model year and "M600-MX" for the 99 model year. The group itself was called MX66 and lasted until 2004.

Annoyingly i got rid of my brakes, still have the pedals i recall the hubs and some other bmx parts

The red DX brakes were definitely in the UK shops in '97.

Yeah I got the brakes as my first v-brake was late 96 or very early 97 as that was my first year racing DH with FS and was all excited to get v's. Got the pedals in like mid 97.

No idea on the stuff. After my interest in the groups, but always thought it was a BMX group (following on from there 80's DX MX/BMX components.)
The use on MTB was probably just to get the red colouring. But the levers are still the same (horrible) levers used in STX-RC/LX groupsets and the V-Brakes also of the same style ad the STX-RC type but in red.

yeah it was for BMX, but didn't mean you couldn;t use for MTB, I thought they were just red LX brakes...

but the pedals...they are great, got a set out of the parts bin not long ago, forgot how really good they are.
