Servicing SPDs

Bored on a typical summer evening (rainy and dull) so have taken an old pair of SPDs apart to clean and regrease etc. Bearings and bits look OK, but difficult to tell as they are so titchy, but seals at crank end are shot.

Can you get replacements or a service kit?

Don't want to spend much as I can buy a new pair from CRC for £17.

never come across one, but that's not to say they're not out there. perhaps cannabalise another set?

Luke, I wouldn't bother mate TBH.

You can pick a decent set of SPuD's up on here for £10, and in my book thats a lot easier than faffing

Do they even have seals?

Servicing pedals usually involves taking out the axle assembly, tighten bearing a little if needed, fill the pedal with new grease and re-insert the axle so the new grease pushes the old grease out through the bearings.

Done!

Thought so, but was just fettling and getting greasy. Got a thing about recycling stuff and not throwing away. Will repack (if I can find all the bearings!) and see how they are. Seals are just lightweight dust/muck seals, but look untidy!

Like I said, brand new ones for pennies if that does not work.

I know that feeling. I've got some M747's where the plastic collar has sheared so I can no longer service them, and some M858's where the collar is desintegrating. I hate to throw them out but that day is getting closer as there is nothing more I can do to save them.

If anyone has some that have died from other ailments I could scavange parts but last time I asked I got no response so gave up :(

To add insult to injury I have some M737 collars, but the m737 pedals I have are in perfect condition so I don't want to mess with them?
